iPhone 5 Rumors Again Touch on Bigger Display & Front Facing Camera

While the Samsung Galaxy S III may be stealing much of the thunder when it comes to Android, all eyes are on Apple’s iPhone 5 in the world of iOS. This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise considering the iPhone remains one of the most popular and best selling smartphones on the market today. If you’ve been paying attention you’ll know that the latest iteration is none other than the iPhone 4S which was rightfully regarded by many as an incremental upgrade over the iPhone 4. New features added into the 4S include a dual-core processor, higher resolution camera and of course, the voice controlled digital assistant known as Siri.

While the iPhone 4S managed to sell like hotcakes (read: like every Apple product) many consumers were let down due to their anticipation of the iPhone 5. However, while the iPhone 5 failed to launch last year, Apple’s typical launch schedule along with just about every rumor everywhere points towards this year being much different.

As of now we know virtually nothing about the phone as Apple has kept quiet as always. Luckily, there’s no shortage of rumors with a new batch cropping up today giving us a glimpse of what may be coming. According to these new rumors, we’re again told that the iPhone 5 will have a new, elongated display. This display is said to feature a 330 ppi count as opposed to the 336 ppi count of the iPhone 4/4S’ Retina Display. Furthermore, the display is also said to be bumped up to around 4-inches which will come as a welcome addition to iPhone fans who are jealous of their Android touting brethren.

On another note, these rumors also touch on the iPhone 5′s front facing camera. As you’re sure to know, the iPhone’s front facing camera has just been OK ever since it was added with the iPhone 5. According to these rumors, the quality and resolution of the camera will be bumped considerably making for better FaceTime calls and things of that nature.

We’re going to go ahead and say it’s safe to assume that Apple will be coming forth at some point this year to release a new iPhone. Will it be called the iPhone 5? Will it be have a bigger display or higher resolution front facing camera? Probably, but unfortunately there’s virtually no way for us to know for sure. Luckily, WWDC ’12 is just around the corner where we should hear more about iOS 6 – the mobile operating said to power the iPhone 5. Stay tuned.
