What the reviewers said

TechRadar

4.5/5Oct 19, 2025

A very impressive booklet foldable with thin design, great displays, big battery, and strong multitasking; its main rival is the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Unavailable in the US.

  • Thinnest booklet-style foldable at about 4.1mm unfolded
  • Two excellent, closely matched displays
  • Large battery for a foldable, longer battery life
  • Fast performance with strong multitasking
  • Decent rear cameras and comfortable, rounded design
  • Poor selfie cameras
  • Some software not optimized for folding display
  • Large camera bump
  • Inner screen protector began separating after about two months
  • Not sold in the US

Honor's Magic V5 is among the most competitive book-style foldables, with strong features and pricing, if you accept MagicOS.

  • Excellent performance from Snapdragon 8 Elite
  • Feature-rich software experience
  • One of the best camera systems on a foldable
  • Keeps stylus support unlike rivals
  • Very bright 5000-nit peak displays
  • MagicOS may not suit everyone
  • Smaller main display than rivals
  • Audio quality could be better
  • Expensive at £1699.99
  • Customer support network may be weaker than Samsung's

Thinness gains are negligible, but the large silicon-carbon battery and solid overall performance make it a compelling foldable, especially outside the US.

  • Very thin when open and closed, though margins are tiny
  • Large 5,820mAh battery with strong endurance
  • Fast 66W wired and 50W wireless charging
  • Snapdragon 8 Elite with up to 16GB RAM
  • Good main camera and consistent color across lenses
  • Chunky camera bump adds significant closed thickness
  • Telephoto struggles with moving subjects and tricky lighting
  • Silicon-carbon battery may degrade faster
  • IP58/59 rating less secure against dust than rivals
  • No US availability
